Firefox 44 released with push notifications that sites can send even after users close the page

Now you'll be able to receive push notifications from websites if you give them permission - a lot like Chrome 42.

Unlike Web notifications, you can receive these notifications even when the website is not loaded in a tab.

“This is super useful for websites like email, weather, social networks and shopping, which you might check frequently for updates,” Mozilla explained.

The users have to first grant explicit permission before they receive such a push notification.

You can manage your notifications in the Control Center by clicking the “i” icon on the left side of the address bar.

Other updates include new visual editing tools and memory management tools for developers and the removal of RC4 encryption.
