This is pretty big.
+Jennifer Slegg is reporting that Google has indeed begun pushing out AMP results late on February 22, 2016, rolling out across mobile devices in their news carousels. (http://tgcafe.it/1TDihR8)
AMP results are listed with both a lightning bolt and the word AMP next to the time of the article in the search results.
In case you are not familiar with AMP and why it matters to your site, here's a quick Skinny.
AMP (Accelerated Mobile Pages) is a way to build web pages to render fast on mobile - Google's version of Facebook’s Instant Articles and Apple News, in other words.
How does AMP speed up your pages? Basically, by stripping all of the whistles and bells and delivering a static version of your content.
If your website has AMP implemented (see below), then Google will deliver the AMP version of the page instead of your responsive website page.
How do you implement AMP?
If you are on Wordpress, then it's easy - there are 2 plugins to help you.
♨ AMP-WP – Developed by Automattic, the same folks that own WordPress.com and are partners in the open source AMP project.
♨ Accelerated Mobile Pages – Developed by Mohammed Kaludi and Ahmed Kaludi.
To learn more about the plugins, read +MaAnna Stephenson's post http://tgcafe.it/1ozqTLA.
Whether you are thinking of implementing AMP or not, one thing is for sure - you might be missing out on a big chunk of traffic if you don't. Just sayin'.
